Una bella sfilza di modi di dire in inglese:
- a bird in the hand in worth two in the bush (meglio un uovo oggi che una gallina domani)
- boys will be boys (i ragazzi son ragazzi)
- if you can’t beat them join them (se non puoi batterli unisciti a loro)
- beauty is in the eye of the beholder (la bellezza è negli occhi di chi la sa apprezzare)
- every cloud has a silver lining (ogni brutta situazione ha un risvolto positivo)


- the end justifies the means (il fine giustifica i mezzi)
- enough is enough (quando è troppo è troppo)
an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth (occhio per occhio dente per dente)
- what the eye doesn’t see the heart doesn’t grieve over (occhio non vede cuore non duole)
- all’s fair in love and war (tutto è lecito in amore e in guerra)
- like father like son (tale padre tale figlio)
- first come first served (chi prima arriva meglio alloggia o una specie… il modo di dire esatto non mi viene)
- all that glitters is not gold (non è tutto oro ciò che luccica)
- the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence (l’erba del vicino è sempre la pi๠verde)
- money doesn’t grow on trees (i soldi non crescono sugli alberi)
- two heads are better than one (mi pare chiaro!!! =))
- ignorance is bliss (beata ignoranza)
- give somebody an inch and they’ll take a mile (dagli un dito si prenderà un braccio)
- don’t judge a book by it’s cover (non giudicare un libro dalla sua copertina)
- better late than never (meglio tardi che mai)
- he who laughs last, laughs longer (ride bene chi ride ultimo)
- a leopard cannot change its spots (non ricordo in italiano…)
- where there’s life there’s hope (finchè c’è vita c’è speranza)
- love is blind (l’amore è cieco)
- practice makes perfect (la pratica rende perfetti)
- prevention is better than cure (prevenire è meglio che curare)
- everyone has their price (ognuno ha il suo prezzo)
- the road to hell is paved with good intentions (la via per l’inferno è lastricata di buone intezioni)
- rome wasn’t built in a day (roma non è stata costruita in un giorno)
- when in Rome do as the romans do (quando sei a roma fa come i romani)
- out of sight, out of mind (lontano dagli occhi lontano dal cuore…)
- time is money (il tempo è denaro)
- only time will tell (solo il tempo lo dirà )
- walls have ears (i muri hanno le orecchie)
- seeing is believing (vedere per credere)
- when the going gets tough the tough get going (quando il gioco si fa duro i duri iniziano a giocare…)
- never say die (mai dire mai)
